The status is mostly irrelevant. It has been downgraded simply because the mortality rate is low. For it to be HCID the mortality rate must be high. The main point about the current precautionary measures is to avoid overwhelming the NHS and risking causing many more deaths because people can’t get treatment for other life-threatening conditions. Otherwise, keep up the good work!

Thanks for commenting, Geoff. I thought the change in status didn’t sit well with us being urged to help with “flattening the curve”. Is Covid-19 highly infectious or isn’t it? Looks to me as if it is. Which is why I’m staying the # home.
