Anniversary

1865 Filey · Birth  It is no fault of James BULLAMORE that his family took almost six hours out of my working day. The Norfolk-born children of James Golding Bullamore and Louise BULMER are reasonably presented on the FamilySearch Shared Tree, though there are issues with Joanna Hannah, George, Jesse and Amelia.

In his early married years, James Golding worked as an agricultural labourer but after moving up to Filey, sometime between the end of 1863 and the beginning of 1865, he took up fishing (1871 and 1881 censuses). In 1891 he was a general labourer and in 1901, aged 74, he was on parish relief.

I am not sure how many children he had with Louise. The family name has various spellings and there were quite a few Bullamores in and around Gimingham (Erpingham Registration District). Census transcribers have had a hard time keeping track. I don’t know what is going on with Asenath/Amelia/Ann M. I reckon nine children, maybe ten.

James the Second is our birthday boy, remembered on a headstone in Filey St Oswald’s churchyard. Three infants are mentioned – his older namesake, Filey-born Robert Thomas and the confusing Asenath. (There are birth registrations in Erpingham for Asenaths in 1859 and 1863, mother “Bullmore” and “Bullamore”. And one 1866 Scarborough death registration for an Asenath Bullamore less than a year old.) And in addition to his parents, there is a niece, Asenath WISEMAN and his uncle Samuel Bullamore.

Headstone on the Shared Tree.

I have added two children and some sources but there is still some tidying up to be done – and perhaps some causes of death to find.

I may be able to catch up with the other five Anniversary People later in the year.
