Crossed Lines

Mary Cambridge née MASON was buried on this date in 1901.

Mary and John had twelve children and they seem to be present and correct within the family presented on the FamilySearch Shared Tree. Then I noticed a stray grandchild.

The question mark against John William with the R in CAMBRIDGE is there because one source I have seen says that he died in Sydney. A Merchant Navy record gives this fellow’s birth dates as 3 February 1872 in Filey – and his occupation as Shipwright. He died in St Vincent’s Hospital, Sydney from Septic Meningitis. I am not sure that this is Mary Mason’s son, therefore – but a certain Annie Jane Cambridge married Harry Riby HODGSON in Sculcoates in the September Quarter of 1903, and he took on three Cambridge stepchildren.
