Thomas CAMBRIDGE was the tenth of twelve children born in Filey to John and Mary née MASON (AP 967 · burial · 7 June). He married Frances MOORE at Filey St Oswald’s on 24 September 1906 and seven children were born to them between 1907 and 1924. FamilySearch doesn’t yet have all the children. In September 1939, Thomas was working as a joiner, living at 10 The Gardens with Frances and three children – Margaret Mary (who married Algy EDMOND the following year), James and Kathleen. Thomas and Frances are remembered in St Oswald’s churchyard.

Alfred HANLEY was baptised at St Oswald’s and is the only child of parents Alfred and Mary on Filey Genealogy & Connections – but he had fourteen siblings. The Shared Tree has eleven of them. Alice, Florence and Bertha are missing. Young Alfred was born in Gristhorpe, where his father was a signalman on the Bridlington to Scarborough railway line. The family moved to Pocklington before spring the following year and the births of all but one of the last ten children were registered there. The youngest child Ethel was born in the summer of 1900 and before the end of the year, her father was dead. (He lives on in a 1901 census source attached to Alfred junior’s record.) Ethel became an aunt at the age of three when her brother Alfred married Hannah SNOW and they had their first child Muriel early in 1904. Four more children were born in Pocklington and then the family moved north to Stockton on Tees. Alfred, a railway clerk with the North East Railway in 1901 and 1911, was the station master at Eaglescliffe in September 1939. His dad would have been proud because there in 1827 people witnessed the birth of the modern railway. His death was registered in Durham South Eastern District which includes Billingham, where I think he is buried.

Alice Mary is the daughter of John COLLING (AP 1070 · death · 24 June). She married Elijah Christopher PLEDGER at St Oswald’s.

Mary Jane MOODY is the wife of PERCY COOK (AP 986 · death · 10 June 28).

George MATTHEWS is a singleton on FG&C but with birth and death dates that enabled me to quickly discover that he is buried in St Oswald’s churchyard with his wife Lizzie and their daughter Ethel. I will catch up with them later but here is the stone. It is easy to locate (by the bushy arch) and difficult to read.

Row 25 532 Matthews G412 Granite w/Rails
