Randolph & Willoughby

You would not expect Granville Walter RANDOLPH and Mildred Cassandra WILLOUGHBY to be ordinary folk but their grave in St Oswald’s churchyard is being overwhelmed by brambles and to see any of the inscription on the flat stone I had to push back the briars and scrape away moss and mud.

There will be dozens, maybe hundreds, of imposing and carefully tended monuments all across Europe that honour Granville and Mildred’s ancestors. There is one here.

I will try to catch up with other grid people another day.
